Where to eat…or maybe not?
Village Café in Macedon
Dear Friends,
Someone anonymously snail mailed me a take out menu for the Village Café in Macedon. Please feel free to mail me menus and/or suggestions if you don’t have access to email. Not a problem. There wasn’t a note or indication of who sent it. I just assumed this was a great place to eat and someone wanted me to check it out. They are located right next to McLouth Chevrolet on Main Street. (315) 986-4587 They are open Monday – Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. They offer a senior citizen discount Monday-Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
I was running errands and was a little skeptical about going over that way. Last time I got a speeding ticket and I was not a happy camper. I watched my speed and decided to scoot over. Ashley was still vacationing in Florida, so I was vacationing here at home. Sometimes it is nice to just relax alone with no worries or distractions. I entered the parking lot and wasn’t sure if they were even open. I was the only one. It was past lunch time, but before dinner.
I was seated by a very nice gal named Aphrodite. You could sit in the bar area or in a large dining area off the bar. At this time they only have a license to sell beer and malt beverages. Aphrodite sat with me and answered my questions about the menu. She said she likes the Buffalo wrap and the hot turkey sandwich. I was in the mood for a Greek wrap and then noticed the Greek gyro. I ordered the Greek gyro which is pronounced Your-o. Who knew? I learned something new today. It came out in no time and I have to say I’m glad I was the only one in the place. I had it everywhere. It is beef (or you could get chicken) served in a pita bread with lettuce, tomato, onion and greek sauce. The sauce looked like sour cream but was made with garlic and cucumber. It came with a choice of fries, soup of the day or macaroni salad. I was in the mood for macaroni salad and it was a huge scoop. It was very good and filling.
Aphrodite said that all of the desserts are homemade. I checked out the selection and decided to bring home a piece of peanut butter chocolate pie. I have to admit this pie was the best I’ve ever had by far!! Loved it. I tried to savor it –no luck. Village Café has take out available and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The prices were very reasonable and it was very good. I will be stopping back if not for a full meal, at least for a piece of pie to go!! Please email me with any comments and/or suggestions. My email is crr@rochester.rr.com. Thanks for reading. Until next time-Christina
